Perfection is a Moving Target "When I'm perfect... then I can."

Sis...

Have you ever noticed how often we postpone living because we're waiting for the perfect version of ourselves to arrive?

The things we tell ourselves...smh!

I gotta lose some more weight...

Land the promotion at my job...

Find the ideal relationship...

Purchase the house...

I need to become a bit more successful.

More confident.

Zap these moles off of my face

Get my followers up.

We have brainwashed ourselves into thinking that all of those things need to happen before we're worthy of pursuing the life we truly want.

Why the heck do we think this?

Why do we believe we need to become "more" before we're deserving?

We are already worthy.

Already capable.

Already enough.

But Sisters.... that inner voice keeps whispering to us words that are devaluing, words that pause and limit us from following our dreams...

Delayed passions and pursuits..

We aren't living our full lives because we are waiting..

Telling ourselves...

"When I get to this point..."

"When I reach this place..."

"When life stops LIFING.."

"When everything is perfect..."

Then...

I'll finally live.

I'll finally chase my dreams.

I'll finally become the woman I've always wanted to be.

Sis...

Can you hear it?

The beautiful soundtrack playing in the background... the violins... the flutes... the harps... everything falling perfectly into place.

Wake up.

That story isn't real.

Perfection is one of the greatest lies we've ever believed.

It has robbed us of more dreams than failure ever could.

At least failure means you tried.

You were brave enough to begin.

Waiting, delaying, and postponing keep us standing still while life quickly moves on without us.

Sis, Life is like a vapor!

Waiting for the materialization of something that may never happen, is costing us.

Tomorrow isn't promised to ANYONE.

Live your life, Sis.

Perfection isn't real.

Not in the literal sense.

It is a destination that keeps moving every time we think we've arrived.

Just one more accomplishment.

One more promotion.

One more degree.

Twenty pounds more, but we almost killed ourselves trying to lose five.

And before we know it, we've spent years chasing a finish line that refuses to stay still.

It reminds me of The Wizard of Oz.

Dorothy followed the Yellow Brick Road believing that somewhere ahead was the answer she had been searching for.

The journey wasn't easy for her.

She faced plenty of obstacles.

Scared as ever.

Plenty of detours.

Moments of uncertainty.

Ironic part is that when she finally arrived at the place she believed would change everything...

She quickly discovered that she had what she needed all along.

It was already within her.

We don't know or understand the power we have.

The strength.

The courage.

The fortitude...

Tell me you don’t see yourself in that Sis? It’s so like us..though (sigh)

We keep believing happiness, confidence, peace, and fulfillment are waiting somewhere "out there"...

The fact is that..

The joy has never been in the destination.

It's always been in the journey.

The gift isn't found in becoming perfect.

It's found in becoming present.

In showing up.

In trying.

In growing.

In embracing the beautifully imperfect woman you already are.

Because perfection isn't a destination you'll eventually reach.

It's a MOVING TARGET!

I encourage you to consider this as a real possibility Sis…

the life you've been waiting to live begins the moment you stop chasing perfection and start embracing your current position and LIVE SIS...

With all of the uncertainty that surrounds us in this world, there is one sure thing present in all of it.

We can’t move forward, standing still…

I promise you Sisters...

The woman you've been chasing all this time...

She was never meant to become someone else or this "NEW" and "IMPROVED VERSION.

She was meant to discover who she has been all along.

And maybe that's where our journey has been leading us from the very beginning.

Not toward perfection...

But toward acceptance.

Not toward becoming someone new...

But toward EMBRACING the woman who has always been enough.

Because, Sis...

You were never meant to be perfect.

You were always meant to be...

Perfect as You Are.
