D-N-A: Do Not Accept — When the Body Speaks Before the Mind Listens

I stepped out of bed and headed to the bathroom to begin what would most consider a typical start to the day. I don’t remember feeling sad—nor did I feel happy.
But Sis- I knew something wasn’t right. I felt… off. Unusually so.
After washing my face and brushing my teeth, I felt slightly refreshed. Still, I thought to myself, I just feel off.
I paused longer than usual. Because for me, mornings never allowed for stillness—seconds felt like hours, and I was always on the go. I rarely took time for myself.
But that morning… I stood there.
Looking at myself in the mirror—yet not really seeing myself.
My body felt deeply fatigued.
My spirit felt heavy.
As if the weight of everything I had been carrying—mentally and physically—had finally caught up with me in that moment.
I had always carried a lot.
But this time… it felt different.
When I opened my eyes that day nearly three decades ago, I never imagined that I would never see myself, my life—or the world—the same way again!
Still, I did what I had always done.
I pushed it all aside.
The feelings.
The exhaustion.
The emotions.
I moved "forward" with my day.
But when I picked up my comb—to put the final touch on my appearance before rushing out the door—
Everything stopped.
The fatigue vanished.
My eyes met my reflection…and my vision blurred as tears violently rushed down my face.
That quiet feeling of being “off” quickly turned into something I could no longer ignore—
Devastation.
I looked down…not to discover something new—but to confirm what I already knew.
Something I had been refusing to see.
Not for days.
Not for weeks.
But for months.
I was losing my hair.
And before I would allow myself to accept it—almost half of it was gone.
That moment became the catalyst for a series of events that sent me into an emotional tailspin.
So let me ask you, Sis—
What are you choosing to ignore in your own life?
What are you losing… but refusing to see?
Sis, Take inventory. Now.
Every strand of hair carries DNA—a record, a code, a truth.
And mine was trying to tell me something…
Do. Not. Accept.
But I did.
Follow me on this journey as I tell my truth—and continue to unpack what happens when the body speaks before the mind listens…
and we choose not to hear it.

The body keeps the score! If only we would listen. Our bodies and our symptoms are a walking story. But we have to realize that ultimately, we are the author of our own narratives.
We can rewrite the script!
